Webinar: How Foodbanks Reduce Food Waste, Fight Hunger and Save Costs

World Food Day is celebrated every year around the world on 16 October in honor of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 1945.  It has since been observed every year in more than 150 countries, raising awareness of the issues behind poverty and hunger. Everybody has a role to play from farm to table and to give everyone access to healthy and nutritious food and diets.

On the occasion of World Food Day, FoodCycle Indonesia is hosting two major events.

Prof. Dr. Purwiyatno Hariyadi is currently Advisory Board and Senior Scientist of Southeast Asian Food and Agricultural Science and Technology (SEAFAST) Center, Bogor Agricultural University. He actively involves with many professional organizations, among other Institute of Food Technologist (IFT) and Institute for Thermal Process Specialists (IFTPS). His passion is writing is manifested in his role as a Chief Editor of monthly magazine of FOODREVIEW Indonesia.

Doug is a recognized leader in global hunger and food banking and has more than 30 years of experience in hunger relief and food assistance policy. As GFN’s Vice President, Network Programs, he leads GFN’s programmatic work that provides the tools and expertise to help food banks grow and operate at scale. Doug served on the U.S. Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, and held senior leadership positions at Feeding America, Feed the Children and the Vermont Foodbank.

Douglas L. O'Brien

Astrid studied Food Technology at RMIT University, Melbourne and she had various experience in various food industries such as dairy, chocolate, flavour and private label. Since 2013 she embarked an entrepreneurial journey and in late 2017 co-founded FoodCycle Indonesia with her husband, Herman. Her dream is one day to establish food waste recycling and roof top farming in cities. Her hobby is gardening.

Suryadi has an extensive experience in end-to-end supply chain management and global/regional project management in various industries (consulting, chemicals, high tech, pharmaceutical, distribution), including his current role in agriculture and food sector.

Having lived in several countries in APAC and Europe, Suryadi enjoys travelling and he is passionate about solving food waste issues and eliminating hunger. He has been involved in Foodcycle since 2018.

Angelique Dewi is the Head of Corporate Communication at Nutrifood, a local company in the health food and beverage sector, which oversees the Sustainability Development department. Angelique also serves as Head of the Green Committee, a committee that coordinates green business practices initiatives at Nutrifood. Angelique is actively living a sustainable lifestyle and becomes a supporter/volunteer at WWF and Greenpeace Indonesia. She is also active in MCSE, a community social entrepreneurship in Muntigunung, East Bali.
